As the weather changes to bring snow and colder temperatures, our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving.

Here in Devils Lake a tradition has been handed down year after year to provide a full and delicious Thanksgiving meal for anyone who wants one. The Kiwanis Thanksgiving Dinner takes place on Thanksgiving Day and is served in the KC Hall, located on main street – 4th Street NE – of Devils Lake.

Members of the Devils Lake Kiwanis Club and other community members come together to create a meal fit for any home in America with roast turkey, stuffing – or dressing, if you prefer that term – mashed potatoes, gravy with bread rolls and cranberry sauce. Oh, and don’t forget the pumpkin pie with or without topping.

It is advertised as a meal for those who do not have anywhere to go for the holiday, however, it is much, much more.

Volunteers will deliver a meal to your home if you call ahead and get your name and address on the list – before Nov. 24.

You can also stop in and dine in the KC Hall and/or take a meal home with you for the evening. Just let us know by calling 351-7285.

Volunteers to deliver meals and help at the hall serving and cleaning up are more than welcome!

Open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. November 28, Thanksgiving Day!
