Two students from the Lake Area Career and Technology Center in Devils Lake recently competed in the 59th Annual National SkillsUSA Championships held in Atlanta, Georgia on June 19-23.
These students were awarded the right to compete at Nationals by winning a gold medal at the State Conference held in Wahpeton in March. Unfortunately, the students did not win any medals in Atlanta but did their very best against some very tough competition at the National level.
Mattyson Ertelt competed in the Job Interview contest once again this year and placed seventh in the nation, up one spot from last year. Hallie Fritel competed in the Related Technical Math contest and placed twenty-sixth out of 39 competitors. Keep in mind these students are competing against the very best in the country in their particular contests, so they fared very well even though no medals were won.
These students, and their advisor, Marla Luehring, would like to thank the community for their continued support of SkillsUSA and look forward to competing again next year.
