It is surprising the level of support the current president has for violating the U.S. Constitution and numerous laws by militarizing some major cities, particularly those governed by Democrats. Usually, one who holds the office of President of the United States of America makes a concerted effort to bring the country together; however, the current president is doing everything possible to split the country into warring factions and has been doing so for several years.

It is important to understand that individuals attempting to overthrow an existing government for a different form of government require public chaos, confusion, public ignorance, and gullibility to provide cover for their efforts. Manipulating politicians who con voters to elect them to office was one of the serious concerns of the Founding Fathers that could lead to the demise of the system of government they were establishing. We are now at the edge of tumbling into the abyss of a tyrannical government designed to reward the very wealthy and corporations and spread cruelty and misery to most Americans.

It needs to sink in that, in violation of the U.S. Constitution and various laws, the president is sending military personnel to large metropolitan areas in the country. This is not normal or legal presidential behavior. It needs to be stressed that this use of military personnel is not about crime. The military personnel are being used as props in a political theater performance that has a few longer-term impacts. First, the deployment of military personnel for law enforcement duties, something they are not specifically trained to do, is an action to make the current president appear tough to the public.

The current president loves the tough guy persona. The president is also attempting to desensitize the American public to deployed military personnel in the country, especially during the November 2026 election. The questions that stem from these military deployments include: How long will they be deployed? Where is the funding coming from for these deployments? How long can Americans put up with this blatant, unconstitutional action?

It is flabbergasting that while the current president has an overall approval rating hovering around 40%, his approval within the Republican Party is 70-80%. There has been little done by the current president that benefits most of the population (85-90% of Americans), and most of what has been and will be done will harm most people in this country. My observation over many years is that unless you have a household income of at least $250,000, there is nothing economically beneficial that the Republican Party can do for average-income households. To provide some perspective: median household income $83,600 (mid-point of all incomes), average household income $120,950 (higher from the statistical influence of millionaires and billionaires), and the top 1% income starts at $659,000.

We now live in a time that the Founding Fathers feared. Having ill-informed and manipulated voters electing unscrupulous and corrupt individuals as their elected leadership was something they feared because it could lead to the demise of the democratic republic they envisioned. They believed that if the public were adequately informed with honest and truthful information, they would make the proper decisions, electing individuals who would represent the interests of most members of society. The unseemly intrusion of huge sums of money, increasingly dark money that can’t be linked directly to a source, has seriously corrupted our election process.

The pieces are being put into place that could seriously jeopardize the continuation of government by, for, and of the people. While this experiment in self-governance initiated by the Founding Fathers has been bruised and battered over the past few decades, the basics of what the Founding Fathers envisioned have held. There was plenty of warning about what a second term for Donald Trump could bring, and it has probably been much more corrupt, chaotic, and confusing than what most warnings described. The next 12 months will ultimately determine the future of the country. We may have to live through a period of unknown duration, of authoritarian dictatorship in our history associated with greater concentration of wealth, overt corruption, severe economic hardship, and a highly chaotic environment designed to confuse, misinform, and mislead the American public. The other possibility is that the 2026 elections are held, not a certainty, and Democrats take over in Congress and attempt to rebuild from the ruins of the current president’s government by, for, and of the people. Our current sad and depressing times are being created by one man.
