Duane “Bud” Davidson, 91 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at Eventide Heartland Care Center surrounded by loving family.

Duane William Davidson was born on April 27, 1931, to Myrtle (Gulseth) and Thorban Davidson in Devils Lake ND. Duane graduated with the Devils Lake High School Class of 1951. While in high school, he was placed on the “All-State Football Team.”

Duane served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1955.

After serving in the Air Force, Duane returned to Devils Lake, where he met the love of his life, and was united in marriage with Shirley Joan Haverwold from Watford City, ND on May 29, 1956. Duane built Shirley a house, and they made it a home for their four children: Douglas (Donna) Davidson, James Davidson, Nancy (Rick) Schmitz, and Gene Davidson.

Duane was a longtime businessman as owner and operator of Lake Ready Mix. He had a pilot license and was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and life member of the ATA.

Duane had many hobbies. The Devils Lake Elks Band, of which he was a charter member, and enjoyed so much; he loved to golf, hunt and fish. Duane was also a long time Trap Shooter, winning many trophies through the years and was inducted into the “North Dakota Trapshooting Hall of Fame” in 1983;

Duane is survived by his loving family. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren Andrew Davidson and Sara Davidson, Luke (Taylor) Schmitz and Jake (Bria) Schmitz and Trent Davidson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, on May 3, 2015, his parents, five year old sister Deanna Davidson and brother Donald Davidson.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 19,2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with burial and Military Honors to follow at the Devils Lake Cemetery.
