DLJ reporter Andrew Benjamin loves to write, but with that also comes his love of reading. He loved reading to the children at Prarie View Elementary School the first time, he signed up again through the Kiwanis Club.

The books that were voted by the students in the library “Spicy Spicy Hot!” by Lenny Wan and “Magic Ramen: The Story of Momofuku Ando” by Andrea Wang. Both are great books to read in this cold weather.

“Spicy Spicy Ho!” is a book about an Indonesian girl, Lintang, who is determined to eat her grandma’s traditional dish sambal despite it being very spicy. Lintang wants nothing more than to enjoy her grandmother’s food and will stop at nothing to find a way to enjoy sambal.

“Magic Ramen: The Story of Momofuku Ando” is the true story of the founder of instant ramen. In post-World War 2 Japan, Ando is upset over all the starving people he sees. He sets out to make ramen that is quick, easy, and delicious to make for all the hungry Japanese people.

If you ever have the opportunity to read at one of the elementary schools, it is a fun and rewarding experience.
