With a fresh new ranking next to its name, the Devils Lake boys’ basketball team kept its winning ways going Monday night.
Highlights
The Firebirds, ranked No. 2 in Monday’s polls and even receiving a first-place vote, beat Carrington 77-31 on Monday at Carrington High School. Drew Hoftsad earned the “Dirty Bird” player of the game for his defensive and rebounding effort. It was the eighth straight win for the Firebirds, making them 11-1 overall.
Devils Lake’s next game will come Friday on the road against Grand Forks Central, a Division AA team that’s 7-4 on the season. It’ll be an interesting test to see if the Firebirds can compete with a team in the division above them.
North Star boys’ basketball, ranked No. 2 in Division B, stayed undefeated with a 79-46 win over Drayton/Valley-Edinburg on Monday. That makes the Bearcats 12-0 overall, 6-0 in Region 2 and 3-0 in District 3.
