Reflection: Sharing God’s Bounty in all Creation

in

It’s been a long wait for summer-like weather, but it’s finally come and we rejoice in it immensely. All God’s Creation has come alive and we would be remiss if we don’t get outside and take in the newness of the last few days of Spring and the life-giving breath of Summer. We rejoice that our God of Creation is sharing his bounty with us and invites us to share this bounty with others as we enjoy the friendship of others and spend quality time with our families during the next three or four months. God is so bountiful and reveals his goodness in so many ways.

Christians have just completed the Easter Season after 50 days of waiting for the Promise of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday. The next six months are known as “Ordinary Time” in the Liturgical Calendar because there are no major feasts between now and the Feast of Christ The King and the Advent Season. Every Sunday of the Liturgical Year remains an invitation from God to enjoy his Creation and keep the Sabbath Day of Rest. Let’s keep the Lord’s Day holy by taking part in the worship services of our respective churches and avoiding any unnecessary work that day. You will be blessed abundantly while the fruits of your labor will be increased.

Psalm 92 seeks God’s blessing on our labors when it recalls the shortness of this life and the need to trust in the God of our Salvation. It repeats this important request from the Lord, “Prosper the work of our hands, Lord; Prosper the work of our hands!” Whether we are young or old, our work becomes God’s Work as we trust in his goodness and share his bounty with others. May the bountiful Lord touch your lives and enrich his blessing in you all the days of your life!
