The upcoming 2026 mid-term election may be the most dishonest and corrupt in the history of the United States of America. The current president has a very low popularity rating that would doom the political party represented by the president. This, coupled with the historical fact that the political party of the president normally loses the majority in the House, Senate, or both. The chaos and corruption of the current administration could be exposed in detail, shedding light on all the nefarious activities of the current president and his minions. The current president is fearful of such exposure, so his political party cannot experience the normal losses that would likely occur in a normal mid-term election.
Most of the country will be subjected to constant lying about the 2020 election outcome, voter fraud, mail-in voting, and voter ID. It has bewildered me that the current president can endlessly lie about the 2020 presidential outcome. He has whined endlessly that he won the 2020 election because the Democrats cheated without, in over 5 years, producing any real evidence to validate his belief. Yes, there is a wide range of conspiracy theories that attempt to show that the 2020 election was fraudulent, but no real evidence that comes close to supporting the big lie that the current president won the 2020 election. He is lying to the public. And has been lying. Will continue to lie because he needs to feed his base this nonsense and has such a fragile ego that he cannot admit he lost the election. So, expect to hear more about the 2020 election being fraudulent because he wants to steal the 2026 mid-term and possibly the 2028 presidential election. Please note that while we listen to the current president babble on about a rigged 2020, this is a man whom the Washington Post documented and verified that he lied over 30,000+ times during his first term as president.
The fact is that our election process is broken, and the current president wants to destroy the notion of having free and fair elections where the citizens choose who represents them in the operation of government. The table has been set over the past 2-3 decades, and money increasingly rules the election process. It is not surprising, but sad, that the first question asked of most individuals considering national office or high-level state office is not about the philosophy or beliefs that drive them to seek political office, but how much money they can raise through personal connections. Money has always been important to political campaigns, but the amounts required now are obscene and often untraceable through dark-money organizations. Because the amounts are so large, campaigns can’t rely on small-dollar donors but must cultivate large-dollar donors who can funnel sizeable amounts to dark money organizations. We can thank the conservative corporatist on the Supreme Court for opening the flow of dark money (Citizens United decision) that made our broken political process much worse. Our election process lasts too long and costs way too much for what we get.
The next several months, when control of Congress hangs in the balance, the scope and breadth of the shenanigans and outright criminal actions undertaken by the current administration will be breathtaking. Most of the actions will be based on the totally bogus notion of voter fraud, including the ridiculous notion that illegal immigrants are voting in such numbers that their votes can influence election outcomes. Illegal immigrants cannot vote anywhere in the country and have never influenced the outcome of any election. Always remember the current president is a pathological liar and lies with ease.
While the current administration will undertake a great deal of unprincipled actions before the election, it may be what takes place once the votes have been cast and counted that could pose the greatest threat to continuing our democratic republic. Remember, it was the current president who instigated a strategic attempt to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election. He has no qualms with fabricating reasons that Democrats legally elected to Congress should not be seated, which will require numerous protracted court battles well into 2027. While these court battles rage on, the lies and propaganda used by the current president will be endless. Those opposing the current president will be put to the test daily to defend the rule of law, something the current president couldn’t care less about. It is important to remember that the Supreme Court, and wrongly so, decided the 2020 presidential election by stopping a recount in Florida that would have ultimately declared Al Gore president, not George W. Bush. An untrustworthy and corrupt Supreme Court could play a role in deciding the outcome of the 2026 midterm election and, by making the wrong decision again, impact the 2028 presidential election.
Our election process will never be the same after what takes place before and after the 2026 midterm election. The insecurity and fragile ego of the current president have changed our election process forever, and not for the better. He has masterfully maligned our election process to the point where fewer people trust election outcomes. This gives those in power greater opportunity to manipulate elections to favor their continued success and hold power.
