Richard Michael Jundt, the son of Thomas P. and Christine B. (Gross) Jundt was born on May 28, 1943, in Rugby, ND. He died at the age of 82 years on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at his home in Silva, ND.

Richard was raised on his family farm in Silva. He attended Little Flower grade school through the 8th grade and completed his education at Rugby High School graduating the class of 1961. After graduation, Richard began working at the Siouland Beef in West Fargo, ND, where he was employed for 3 years. It was in Fargo that he met his future wife, Diane Goeser. The couple were united in marriage on Feb. 23, 1963, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, ND.

In 1964 the couple returned to Richard’s family farm to help his father farm, and where they raised their two children, Michael and Debbie. Richard never left the farm that he loved so very much. He had dairy cattle and later switched to beef. He raised wheat, barley, oats and even sunflowers a few years until the blackbirds took over. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting, trapping and enjoyed a little fishing, He also did some taxidermy work in the wintertime. Richard was very proud of his lifetime membership with the NRA.

Richard was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He went to meet the Lord October 24 with his faithful companion, Duke, by his side.

Richard is survived by his wife Diane of 62 years; 2 children, Michael (Molly) Jundt of Balta, North Dakota. and Debbie (John) Drong of Little Falls, Minnesota; grandchildren, John Jundt; Erin (Dino) Johnson; and Jessica Hellerman; a great grandchild; Dominic Jundt, nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Jundt and his parents.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Balta with burial in the Silva cemetery, Silva, ND. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the church.
