Evonne F. Berg passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, at the age of 88 years.

There was a visitation at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service for Evonne was at River of Life, Assembly of God Church, Devils Lake, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery. There was a time of fellowship in the church dining hall following the graveside service.

Evonne Fern was born on Dec. 12, 1936, at Devils Lake, N.D., the daughter of Ray and Naomi (DeForest) Kelly. She attended Devils Lake Public School and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School with the class of 1956.

Evonne married her beloved Irven Berg on Sept. 22, 1956. They moved to California for a few years and started their family.

Evonne devoted her life to raising her nine children, but when her husband was unable to work, she began a career at Mercy Hospital that would span over 50 years. She began as a Certified Nursing Assistant and eventually was the Ward Clerk. She was an efficient, dedicated employee and treasured by all the staff at Mercy.

Evonne never really had time for hobbies, but fortunately, she loved to cook and baking, which brought joy to her family and friends. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter and all the family food favorites on the menu. Evonne treasured every moment spent with family. They were her pride and joy, and she loved them with all her heart.

Evonne’s faith, her kindness, her caring heart are a legacy left behind for family to carry with them throughout their lives.

Evonne is survived by her children Debbie Henderson, Devils Lake, Allen (Jo) Berg, West Fargo, N.D., Dianne Grossman, Morris Minn., LuAnn Carlson, Omaha Neb., Tim (Terri) Berg, Fargo, Tammy (Lawrence) Wink, Wis., Kim Strawn, Denton Texas, Candace (Ken) Miller, Neb., and Jeff Berg, Devils Lake; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; brother Darrel (Yvonne) Kelly of Nevada; many nieces, nephews and their families.

She was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior, parents, husband Irven, who died on Aug. 30, 1998, grandsons Travis Thomas and TJ Wimer, great-great grandson Elliot, and brother Forest Kelly.
