Janice Ann Sowatzki, 80, of Devils Lake, passed away on 11/21/2023 at Bethany Retirement Home in Fargo, N.D. Janice was born 5/13/1943 to Richard and Myrtle Bauerle. Janice grew up and attended school in Church’s Ferry, N.D. On 6/16/1962, she married Gary Sowatzki of Penn, N.D. They lived on the Sowatzki farm until 1975 when they moved to Devils Lake where she lived the rest of her life, continuing to raise the family and enjoying time with friends. She worked at the Elks Lodge and then was the cook at the Devils Lake Middle School. Janice is survived by her son’s Shane and Kelly Sowatzki of Fargo; daughter Stacy Miller of Devils Lake; grandson James Sowatzki (Erica) and great-granddaughter Kori of Horace; granddaughter Jordan Sowatzki of West Fargo; grandson Dustin Miller of Devils Lake; granddaughter Jade Halvorson of Grand Forks. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; spouse Gary; siblings John, Sharon and Duane Bauerle. Arrangements are being made for interment of ashes in May 2024 at the Norway Lutheran Church Cemetery west of Devils Lake, N.D, where she will join her spouse, Gary.
