Jeanne Marie Bergstrom, age 95, passed away at home Aug. 20, 2023, in Sun City, AZ.
The Arizona memorial service will be held on September 6 at 10 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church on Del Webb Blvd. in Sun City, Arizona with Reverend Mike Campbell officiating . ( A further celebration of life and burial will take place in Devils Lake, ND. at a future date to be determined.)
Jeanne Marie was born in Mahnomen, MN to Alette and Charles Wittensten on Dec. 28, 1927. She moved with her parents and sisters, Betty Lou and Carol, first to Alexandria, MN , then to Devils Lake, ND. Jeanne graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1946 and married her high school sweetheart, Gene Bergstrom in 1948.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, Westminister Presbyterian Church’s Choir and volunteered to helped teens, including her daughters, in Rainbow. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker especially baking, playing bridge, enjoying life with the love of her life, “Bergie/Gene” and raising their four children in Devils Lake, ND.
Jeanne and Gene relocated to Plymouth, MN. in 1985 – as well maintaining a winter residence in Sun City, AZ for more than 30 years. The past decade they resided together year-round in Sun City. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary , then the following year Gene died in Sun City at home.
In addition to her husband, Arthur Eugene Bergstrom, Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alette Wittensten, and her sisters, Betty Lou Nelson and Carol Long. Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Connie Lou Kennedy (and husband Kevin) of Veseli, Minnesota and Cynthia Bergstrom Devlin (and husband Ed) of Santa Fe, NM and her sons, David Arthur Bergstrom (and wife Clare) and Robert Charles Bergstrom of Sun City, AZ. Also, Jeanne was the grandmother to Kara Ann Perez, David Allen Hager, Patrick Arthur Devlin, Amanda Chase and Eric Bergstrom and great-grandma to Sofia and Flora Perez and J.R. Hager. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, John Bergstrom and Roy Long, and sisters-in-law, Ornetta Bergstrom and Anne-Marit Bergstrom, and numerous dear nieces and nephews…
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jeanne’s favorite charity, the Salvation Army – designating “disaster relief” for 100% to support disaster operations.
