Jean G. Boesl, age 95 of Edmore, ND, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Jean Helgeseth was born May 27, 1927, in Churchs Ferry, ND, the daughter of the late Theodore and Alma (Blegen) Helgeseth. She grew up and attended school there. Following her graduation, she moved to Devils Lake, ND, where she began working in the accounting department for JCPenney. She transferred to Cut Bank, MT, where she married Glenn Biby in 1955. Glenn and Jean enjoyed the outdoors and camping in Glacier National Park. The couple made their home in Cut Bank until his passing in 1996. Jean moved back to Churchs Ferry where she met and married William Boesl in 1998. The couple moved to Edmore, ND, in 2000 where she continued to make her home until the time of her passing.

She was active in the ladies aide and bible study groups at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cut Bank, MT, and Zion Lutheran Church in Churchs Ferry. Jean was also active in the Mason’s in both Cut Bank and Devils Lake. She was very crafty and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking, making Christmas candies, journaling and making photo albums and cards.

The last three years, Jean had been living with her daughter Susanne and was the honorary mascot of Homme Dam in Park River.

She is survived by her children: Susanne Blair, Edmore, ND and Darryl (Connie) Biby, Apgar, MT; 9 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, brother Arden Helgeseth, sister Anne Nelson, and son-in-law Randy Blair.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Homme Dam Recreation Area; please bring your own lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Interment was at the Clyde Community Cemetery, Clyde, ND.
