Elmer N. Lund Jr., age 86, resident of rural Brocket, ND, died Monday, July 3, 2023, at his home in Lakota, ND.
Elmer Nelson Lund was born Nov. 26, 1936, on the family farm near Brocket, ND, the son of Elmer and Gladyce (Johannesson) Lund. He attended Clara Township elementary school and Grand Forks Central High School. He graduated from Lakota High School in 1954. He met his wife, Virginia Frost, at the Cleveland Farmers Club, where he was playing guitar for their square dancing entertainment. They were married Oct. 12, 1959, at the Quale Lutheran Church, rural Fordville, ND.
Elmer was a true farmer and worked for Lincoln Anderson as a licensed Journeyman Electrician until later starting his own business, Lund Electric. Elmer loved music, he played guitar and accordion. In his younger years, he was a member of the band Curtis and the Galaxies. He also played in many different dance bands throughout the surrounding counties. In his retirement, he played and sang for many different nursing homes, birthday parties, and other events in Maddock, Devils Lake, Lakota, McVille, etc. He was an active member of United Lutheran Church of Brocket for many years by serving in the church choir, Sunday School teacher, and the church council, in which he served a term as President. He also served as an officer on the Enterprise Township Board.
Elmer leaves behind his wife, Virginia; 2 daughters, Laura Lund and Leah (Kirk) Sellers; brother, Curtis Lund; sister, Cynthia Lund; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Mavis (Bob) Lind, Gene (Phyllis) Lund, and Maureen (Clair) Carlson; sister-in-law, Leslie Lund; and brother-in-law, Raymond Frost.
A celebration of Elmer’s life will be held at the Lakota City Park shelter on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 2:00 p.m until 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lakota Ambulance or a charity of your choice.
