Kenneth A. Berg, age 90, resident of Edmore, ND, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, ND.

Kenneth Arvid Berg was born Nov. 4, 1932 in Donaldson, MN, the son of Arnold and Hilda (Sterk) Berg. He was raised in Minnesota and North Dakota before his family settled near Nekoma, ND in 1947. That year he was confirmed in the Nekoma Lutheran Church, of which he was later hired as a block layer helper and a finish carpenter when the new church was built in 1955. Kenny met Ann Davis of Edmore while roller skating and they were married on May 16, 1955, in Nekoma. They moved to Grafton, where Kenny worked in the Ford dealership garage. Their first son Bruce was born while they lived in Grafton. They moved to Langdon in 1957, when he began working as a truck driver/winch operator for Otter Tail Power Company. While in Langdon, Greg, Dean and Mary were all added to the family. Kenny completed the journeyman lineman course and in 1967, the family moved to Edmore in 1967 where he began working as a Service Representative for OTP, a job he held for the next 28 years serving the communities of Edmore, Hampden, Starkweather, Alsen, Calio, Munich, and Lawton. He could tell you who had the best lunch specials each day of the week. All three boys learned to drive in an OTP truck along the rural roads between these towns. In his younger years, Kenny enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cars, and camping. He was a member of the Masons, the Edmore Volunteer Fire Department & Ambulance Service, Edmore Historical Society, and Concordia Lutheran Church. He also served as the Mayor of Edmore and Concordia Church trustee. In 1995 he retired from Otter Tail after 38 years with the company. In retirement, Kenny volunteered at the Edmore Museum and helped several farmers in the area with fieldwork. He even began playing golf! He thoroughly loved his golf cart. Kenny and Ann moved to Devils Lake in 2018. Ann died Jan. 30, 2020, which left a huge void in Kenny’s life after 65 years of marriage.

Kenny will be deeply missed by his 4 children, Bruce (Tammy) Berg of Edmore, Greg (Becky) Berg of Fergus Falls, MN, Dean (June) Berg of West Fargo, ND, and Mary (Mike) Engh of Maddock, ND; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Phyllis Blomquist of Grand Forks, ND, Harris (Doreen) Berg of Portland, OR, Marion (Ronnie) Rivinius of Streeter, ND, and Harold (Linda) Berg of Benson, AZ; sister-in-law, Aletta and Robert Anderson of Bemidji, MN; and his nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; great grandchild, Jude Berg; and 2 brothers-in-law, Clinton Davis and Alan Blomquist.
