Eldoris Ovidia was born to Thomas and Alice (Aslaug Kolrud) Wee at Nome, ND on Aug. 12, 1928. She was the 2nd of 5 children. From a young age, Eldoris helped with all that went along with rural life in the 1930s and 40s. The family moved to Sharon, ND where she graduated from high school in 1947.

After high school, Eldoris moved to Fargo, ND but continued to visit family and friends in the Nome area, where she met her future husband, Leland Rodlin. Her parents moved to Devils Lake, and on Nov. 2, 1952, Eldoris and Leland were united in marriage at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. After their first son was born in 1954, Leland was working for a seismograph crew, and they began moving South. Eldoris often spoke of working at an orphanage in Colorado. Caring for children always remained a part of her life. In Colorado, Leland and Eldoris would have 3 more children.

Moving back to ND, Eldoris worked many jobs while they raised their family. Lee and Eldoris ran a café and hotel in Binford, ND, then moved to Cooperstown and finally moved back to Devils Lake. She would work at the School for the Deaf, Mercy Hospital, Lake Region Lutheran Home, Majestic Cleaners, Great Northern Café, Mayor Café, and the Eagles; where she was in the Ladies Auxiliary, serving as Auxiliary President in 1992. In the 70’s, Eldoris began caring for children again, taking in foster children, then adding daycare to the mix. Our home was always full of children, some coming in the wee hours to stay short term and others lived with us for much longer periods of time. Some came daily when their parents were at work. Some got a bit spoiled, but that was okay. There was always enough love to go around.

On March 8, 1988, Eldoris was widowed when Leland passed away. She endured it all and kept going, continuing her child care. She really was one tough lady.

On July 10, 1992, Eldoris was united in marriage to Ed Dosch at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In 2008, at nearly 80 years old, Eldoris decided she would retire. By that time, she was a caregiver for LRC. Ed and Eldoris enjoyed their large family of 12 kids and many grandchildren, traveling near and far until it became too difficult to travel. In 2017, they moved into Heartland Care Center. Ed passed away in October of 2018.
