Norma (née Moen) Huffman, 93, of Edmonds, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023. She was born in 1929 in Devils Lake, N.D. to Ole and Otillie Moen. She was the youngest of seven children raised on a farm near Grand Harbor in Ramsey County.
She attended Devils Lake Central High School, graduating in 1947. After graduation, she worked for the telephone company in Devils Lake as a switchboard operator. She married John (Jack) Huffman in June 1950 and they made their home in the Devils Lake area until in 1956 when they moved to Seattle, Washington. In Seattle, she worked for JCPenney where she started as a clerk and then as a department manager until her retirement in 1987.
Norma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her kind heart, generosity and sense of humor. Her family was her greatest joy in life and she cherished every moment spent with them. Norma had many interests including cooking, reading, puzzles, crafting and travel. She was also an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners and never missed a game on TV. She was preceded in death by her husband: John Huffman; her parents: Ole and Ottillie (née Fetting) Moen; her siblings: Norman Moen, Walter Moen, Myrtle Timmons, Alvina Moen, Frances Ortblad and Ella Moen.
She is survived by her children: Ardis Huffman, Marion (Steve) Mack, Ken (Renee) Huffman; her 4 grandchildren; 4 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held on May 12 at Beck’s Restlawn Cemetery in Edmonds, WA. A Celebration of Life will be held in Edmonds on June 17.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Norma’s memory. She will be dearly missed.
