Wade Merton Reierson, Devils Lake, ND, passed away with family at his side on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND at the age of 60.
There will be visitation on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake, with burial in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. There will be a lunch and time of fellowship at the Parish Center following the graveside service.
Born Jan. 9, 1966, one of eight children born to Merton and Virginia (Heisler) Reierson in Maddock, ND. He grew up with his siblings in Esmond, and attended Esmond Public School. In 1979, the family moved to Devils Lake and he continued his education at Devils Lake Central.
Wade worked a variety of jobs in the Lake Region including Target Roofing, Home of Economy, Pop’s Bar, Quality Roofing by Busch and as a carpenter for Rich Hoeltl Construction. Unfortunately, recent health problems forced him to retire.
Wade was at one time married to Stacie Stueness and they were the proud parents of son Preston.
In his younger years, Wade loved to play softball and enjoyed hunting outings with family and friends. During basketball season, Wade was always Devils Lake’s biggest fan, loudest cheerleader in the stands for Preston. He was so proud of the young man Preston came to be. He was always the most optimistic fan of the Minnesota Vikings no matter what.
Wade was a man who genuinely loved life—the laughter, the small joys, the moments that made him feel alive—but there were challenges. Even so, beneath the struggle was a heart that never stopped wanting better, both for himself and for the people he loved.
Wade’s loving family include his son Preston Reierson (Brooke Degerness) of Fargo ND; mother of Preston, Stacie Reierson, Devils Lake; siblings Sandy (Tim) Wolfe, Esmond ND, Scott (Becky) Reierson, Bob (Donna) Reierson, Mary Hoffner (Steve Erfle), Craig (Sonja) Reierson, Curtis Reierson and Duane (Corrine) Reierson all of Devils Lake; nieces and nephews Lindsay Wolfe, Josh Wolfe-Kyle (Ashley) Reierson, Toby (Melvine) Reierson-Joseph (Betsy) Reierson, Brock (Ashley Overby) Reierson, Niki (Levi) Slater, Trent (JaeCee) Reierson-Sara (KJ) Peterson, Tara Hoffner, Haley (Andrew) Ellefson, Samantha (Alex) Rushing-Brittany (Andy) Tofsrud, Nathan Reierson, Alexis Reierson-Ashley Ziegler-Dustin (Bobby) Stanley, Alisha Duciaume, Derek Stanley; several great nieces and great nephews; aunts and uncles Don Heisler, Patty Heisler, Bruce McCullough and Margaret Heisler and many dear cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, nephew Cassidy Hoffner, and other beloved family members.
Urn Bearers will be Wade’s brothers Scott, Bob, Craig, Curtis and Duane. Reading the Scriptures will be Niki Slater and Tara Hoffner. Eucharistic Gift Bearers are Haley Ellefson, Alexis Reierson and Wade’s sisters, Sandy Wolfe and Mary Hoffner. Music will be provided by Patty Cote.
