Rita Clancy, 97, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Born Aug. 19, 1928, in Egeland, N.D., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Neussendorfer. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman (Jack) Hansen with whom she created the family that she loved. Also preceded in death was her second husband, Adrian Clancy, son Jeffrey, and daughter-in-law Donnalee Hansen. As the last survivor of 6 children, Rita is now reunited in peace with her brothers and sisters.
Rita is survived by children, Jacalyn (Bill) Oliver in Arizona, Jerold (Sara) Hansen in West Virginia, Joel Hansen in North Dakota and daughter-in-law Cindy Hansen in North Dakota; five grandchildren: Christopher (Caitlin), Joseph, Ariel (Eric), Jacob (Kylie), Sean (Kerstin),16 great grandchildren, and her blended Clancy family.
Throughout her life, she touched countless hearts with her unwavering compassion and her ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. She dedicated her life to being an RN at Mercy Hospital and approached her role with grace and devotion. Her greatest joy was her family and faith. She poured her love into her grandchildren and great grandchildren who will carry her spirit forward.
A celebration of her life with a prayer service will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church on May 3rd at 7:00 PM where friends and family are invited to honor her legacy. Funeral will be held Monday, May 4th at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City, ND.
Her incredibly kind heart, always cheerful manner, and tireless devotion to family and friends will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
