An injury crash took place in Ramsey County on U.S. Highway 2 near mile marker 284, approximately 2.5 miles SE of Crary on Oct. 22 at approximately 9:35 p.m. CT.
Road conditions were good, the weather was clear and it was dark outside.
According to the report from the NDHP, a 2004 Infiniti FX35 and a 2019 Chevrolet Express Van were both westbound on US Highway 2 when the Infiniti struck the rear of the Chevrolet, entered the median, rolled and came to rest in the median facing south. The Chevrolet had entered eastbound US Highway 2 and driven to a stop. The driver and ten passengers were not injured. The van was transporting the Lake Region State College Men’s Intramural Basketball Team. All passengers and driver were wearing their seatbelts.
The driver of the Infiniti, a 38-year-old female from Devils Lake, was transported to CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake and then transported to Altru Hospital, Grand Forks with serious injuries. She was not wearing her seatbelt. This driver faces a charge of DUI (First Offense) Class B Misdemeanor.
Agencies responding to this crash included the NDHP, Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Devils Lake Fire Department, Devils Lake Rural Fire Department and the Lake Region Ambulance Service.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
