If you have visited the DLJ office in the last few months, you might have noticed a new person at the desk who took the place of retired Patty Schwab. Please welcome Jennifer Schwab (and yes she’s a relative of Patty’s)!

Originally from Minneapolis, her parents grew up in Devils Lake. “Devils Lake has always been a second home to me,” she said.

Her aunt saw an ad in “The County Peddler” looking for someone to take over Patty’s position. Jennifer applied for the position and was hired in July due to her extensive work experience and degree in business administration.

“I like it. I really like everybody that I work with. Feels like an extended family,” she said.

Here are some facts about her:

She can sing. She took voice session back in high school. She is good at darts. She loves to be with her nieces and nephews. She lives with a special guy. He is a cat named Marco.

Marco is a short-haired domestic who is just a little over two years old. She adopted him from The Catty Shack downtown. “He actually adopted me,” she jokingly said. “They had like 40 or 50 cats roaming around… Marco laid on my lap and he didn’t leave until I got up and left. I said, ‘well, I guess he’s mine.”

If you call the office or stop in make sure to say hi to Jen if you haven’t already!

This is the first in a series of profiles to familiarize Devils Lake Journal readers with the individuals who bring you the newspaper each and every week. Enjoy!
