News Tip – Hot Rod Events coming up and not only do the boys go, but the women build and drive their hot rods too. Meet the famous Girls Only Lipstick Run, Annual Hot Rod Tour – We build em – and we know how to drive em!

WHO ARE WE

We’re gals who share a mutual passion for old cars. Barb Balanyk has a 1934 Ford Pickup, Kathy Milne drives a 1938 Chevy sedan, Julie O’Hara-Tronson drives her 52 Plymouth Belvedere, from North Dakota, and my passion is my 1923 Ford T-Bucket that I built, with help, and we know how to drive em’ too! Previous trips have led us to Bakersfield, California; Boston, Mass, Pigeon Forge TN., and almost every US State along with most Canadian provinces.

WHAT WE DO

Every season we select a fun event to drive to and go for it. The fun is not so much the event itself, as much as getting there. Our girls-only-hot-rod-tour is a high energy; action packed trip where we rack up the miles like it’s going out of style. We take in tourist sites, automotive plants, hot rod shops, (We’ve toured 70) participate in rod runs, car shows, and paste our trip news in magazines the likes of Hot Rod Magazine, Street Rodder Magazine, Styleline Magazine, Southern Cruisin’, Southern Rodder and Streetscene Magazine. Friends on our tours have included the likes of the movie star and founder of the Hot Rod Model T – Norm Grabowski, Chip Foose & Boyd Coddington, Rick Johnson of Loboy’s Rod & Custom- (all custom car builders); TV actor Bob Breeding, and signature artists like Darrell Mayabb and Dave Bell.

WHY CARE ABOUT “THE LITTLE GUY (GAL)”

We may be a small group, however, we generate some hefty exposure. We’ve been doing this since 1995, over 25 years. Breaking all the old traditional values of “man and his car” – this is a one of a kind, girls only group that’s not for the meek and the mild. We built our cars to enjoy and our destinations know no bounds. The further – the better. With a little support we’d like to encourage other females to take an active role in today’s street rodding sport. We like to promote driving our hot rods and if you care to include us in the Devils Lake Journal, we’d be happy to send you some info and a photo to go with it.

We don’t want anything. We are each driving our own classic car to Springfield, MO, to participate in the NSRA Springfield event and car show in town May 17 – June 2, 2024. Our energy knows no bounds. All 4 of us will be wearing our identical T-Shirts so we stand out. We are driving about 1000 miles one way to this event and like many we attend, the entire place will have met us and know that we were there. I’ll attach a photo of our cars………….what do you think? We leave Canada this Friday May 17. And the following week we hit Devils Lake for the Annual Devils Run. Yes, women build and drive hot rods too!
