According to an official press release from the Spirit Lake Nation, the Spirit Lake Tribal Incident Command, in coordination with the Jemini Posey family, will conduct an organized community search effort on the weekend of May 9 and 10.

Search efforts will begin each morning at 8 a.m. at the Wood Lake Rec Center, 321 Third Ave. in Tokio, N.D. Community members who wish to assist are encouraged to participate through the organized volunteer effort. All volunteers must check in, attend daily briefings, and follow Incident Command direction.

For the safety of all participants and to ensure the integrity of operations, access to active search areas is limited to authorized personnel and registered volunteers only.

According to the official statement, media access to active search operations has been prohibited, “out of respect for the family and to protect the integrity of the search effort,” with official updates provided through the Spirit Lake Tribal Public Information Office.

The statement concludes by saying, “We appreciate the public’s continued support, prayers, and respect for the family during this time.”

Volunteers are encouraged to contact Public Information Officer Vicki Alberts at 701-381-0789 or [email protected], or Jade Frier-Posey at 701-381-0872.
