DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – The Devils Lake Police Department (DLPD) have arrested a juvenile male in connection with a threat made to one of the schools in the Devils Lake Public School District.
On Friday, April 17 around 4:45 p.m., the DLPD “received information about a future threat to one of the schools in the Devils Lake Public School District,” according to their press release. “After careful investigation, the threat was deemed credible.”
Police arrested the juvenile several hours later that same day around 7:05 p.m. and he was charged with terrorizing in connection to the threat.
While they were unaware of any other potential threats, DLPD is continuing to work with the school district and provided an extra presence at local schools on Monday, April 20 to ensure their safety. According to a post made on the DLPD Facebook page, “Safety to all students and faculty is paramount.”
“We want to reassure the community that the individual involved has been identified and is now in law enforcement custody,” the Facebook post said. “Due to the ongoing investigation and privacy rights, we cannot share further details at this time.”
The juvenile remains in custody in Grand Forks as DLPD continues to investigate the incident and stated that they will keep the community informed with timely updates as needed, in the interests of public safety.
