Devils Lake Police Department reports the following:
2/14/26: Police were dispatched to the Fremont on Fifth St. NE, where a 22-year-old male suspect showing signs of significant intoxication and harassing a young woman at the scene, was arrested at approximately 6:34 a.m. He was charged with disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, and transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.
2/14/26: Police were initially dispatched to Shamrock Lane Apartments, Building B for a noise complaint in the early evening. Upon arrival, officers heard an adult male suspect, later identified as William B. Firemoon, age 22, whooping and shouting that he was a warrior. As one of the officers checked on Firemoon, another officer entered the building in response to hearing a commotion inside. Firemoon then fled the scene.
Police were later dispatched to the same address, responding to a report of a stabbing. Arriving at the scene, multiple witnesses reported that a male victim had been stabbed by Firemoon. The victim was found inside the building by the staircase, wearing a torn, bloody shirt. Officers observed a large, deep wound on his left side on the rib cage. The victim stated that Firemoon was “acting up,” which was why the altercation between them had started. As the victim’s injury began to affect him more severely, officers packed the wound and applied pressure until the ambulance arrived. Later, at the hospital, the victim signed a release of information whereupon officers were advised that the initial stab wound had nicked the victim’s lung.
A female on the scene reported that she had witnessed the stabbing and that Firemoon had chased her with knife in hand, and she believed her life was at risk.
Firemoon was found later at Pitcher Park SE, and placed under arrest at 11:25 p.m., charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, a class B felony, and terrorizing of an adult victim, a C felony, and transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.
