Thought to be the oldest continuously operating women’s group in the state
The Shakespeare Club of Devils Lake was first organized on January 1895 at the home of Mrs. Clark W. Kelly. It was the nature of a reading circle was called “The Round Table”.
It is believed to be the oldest continuously operating women’s group in the state.
The object of the club was self improvement and an effort for the advancement of social conditions in the home and community.
The name was changed to “The Devils Lake Shakespeare Club” on Jan. 23, 1905.
They meet the second and fourth Monday of the month beginning October until May.
