The Blonde on the Prairie gives advice on ‘Love, oh Love!’

As I type this, it’s the day before Valentines day.

Opinion: Campaign Season

In the next several months, we will be bombarded with political advertising and depending on the state, the annoyance level could be only marginal or could be endlessly horrific. Very little that we will be exposed to will be of an informative nature relating to how candidates will specifically improve the lives of most of their potential voters. Most of the current campaign strategies involve character assassination of the opponent and lying because accountability is no longer part of the political process. Political strategists know that you simply must repeat something several times, even if what you are repeating is demonstrably false, and people will begin to believe the lies and false statements even when they may intellectually know better.

Korean Beef Bowl and Muddy Farm Fresh Eggs | TheFarmChicken

This week on TheFarmChicken I posted a sourdough discard recipe for Chocolate Chip Oatmeal cookies. I think I have made this recipe around 6 times now over the past few weeks! I was going for a certain texture of cookie, and it took some trial and error, but I finally got it after almost settling. Who knew adding sourdough discard to a cookie could create such a challenge. It’s a good thing the test batches were still good and now we have a lovely cookie freezer stash.

The Blonde on the Prairie says, “Serve to be truly happy”

This day as I type, I recognize that I have a bunch of things floating in my head. What a timely word “floating” is considering the weather news all around the nation. There are two types of people in this world according to me. The kind who serve and the kind who think they deserve. The two kinds are despised by each other and yet it takes one to fulfill the needs of the other. Our own North Dakota floods have been a challenge for all of us. If it wasn’t a challenge for you then you either had a medical excuse or you thought you deserved not to help those attempting to save their properties and lively hoods.

That’s Life: The Mighty Quinn

I once talked to a woman who had lost her son. He must have been 15. Maybe 16. I don’t remember. I will remember forever what she said between the silences that dominated the conversation, between the pauses that take measure of the pain.

Tater Tot Hotdish TheFarmChicken Way

Happy Spring! But no, really, it feels so much like spring outside! This winter has been such a weird one weather wise. We got our chicken coop all cleaned out this week and they are happy to have fresh straw again. Have you ever seen a chicken in new straw? They are so happy!

The Blonde on the Prairie contemplates Theology

Today I am questioning if I should go back to University in order to get degreed in Theology. I’m pondering this all because I ate breakfast at preschool with 4 and 5 year olds.

That’s life: I’m optimistic

I remain optimistic. I also have a buttload of gummies if anyone needs any.

Summer Memories and Fajitas

Let’s go back to summer just for a second. We grew bell peppers, and you may even remember me talking about them some over the summer. One of the reasons we grew bell peppers is because we enjoy making fajitas. I’ll share the recipe below with you. You can use it for either beef or chicken. We enjoy either one!
