They started gathering at 10 a.m. and by 11:30 a.m. over 80 people had exercised their right to free speach and peaceful assembly guaranteed in the First Amendment of the Constitution of the USA at Devils Lake’s “No Kings” rally on the steps of the Lake Region Heritage Center, main street. Using a microphone and small speaker participants were invited to come forward and tell the crowd why they had come to this event. Although a few passersby expressed their opinions in opposition to the rally, many attending the rally did step up and express their concerns. Across the U.S. over 5 million people participated in the “No Kings” rally, estimated to be the largest demonstration in US history.
