There were more witches than you could shake a stick at attending the 2017 Key Event Friday night in the Memorial Building. Do you recognize anyone in this grouping?

Halloween came a little early to Devils Lake as the Community College Foundation held its annual Key Event with the theme “Hocus Pocus” Friday evening.

There were more witches, vampires, warlocks, ghosties and assorted ghouls and goblins than ever before.

Highlights of the event were the induction of Lee Ann Johnston and Kelsey Schlenk into the LRSC Hall of Fame.

The keynote speaker was LRSC alumna McKenzie Darling, who is the director of a children’s ministry in Grand Forks. She spoke about the positive people she got to know while attending LRSC and their influence in her life.

Music for the evening was provided by Rick Senger as Elvis.

The purpose of the evening is to raise funds for the Community College Foundation and that was done through the 267 silent auction items, a 29-item live auction and various games, drawings and raffles.

Although the exact numbers aren’t in just yet  Erin Wood thought the 2017 brought in something like $66,000. Wood wanted to make sure to let the whole community know how much they appreciate the support for the Key Event and all year ‘round.
