Devils Lake is ranked No. 4 in Division AA football for the second straight week.
After beating Fargo South 39-23 on Friday, the Firebirds stood pat in the NDAPSSA polls released Monday. They received 33 points after 29 last week.
Devils Lake began this season unranked. It moved into the top five after a win over then-No. 3 Central Cass in Week 2. The Firebirds have now won three in a row to finish 3-1 in non-region play. They’ve been in the top five in three consecutive weeks.
The entire top five remained the same in Division AA. No. 1 Minot North received 16 first-place votes compared to 18 last week; Kindred received two in both weeks. Grand Forks Red River was the only unranked team to receive votes, after both Red River and Watford City received votes last week.
Devils Lake is the highest-ranked among teams that have lost at least one game in AA. Minot North, Kindred and Grand Forks Central are all 4-0.
The Firebirds begin region play this Friday at home against Jamestown (1-3).
In Division AAA, No. 1 Bismarck Legacy fell all the way to No. 4 after a 14-13 loss to West Fargo Horace (then No. 5, now No. 3). Shanley took over the top spot with 16 of 18 first-place votes.
