Parker Simon is the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
The Hampden, North Dakota, native threw 10 innings last week while allowing just one earned run, good for a 0.90 ERA in that span. He struck out nine and walked four. The recognition doesn’t even include his 4 2/3 scoreless innings against Dakota College at Bottineau on April 29, which came after the designated week.
Simon’s season ERA sits at 3.51 with only one run allowed in his last 14 2/3 innings (0.61 ERA).
He threw a complete-game one-hitter on April 21 against Bottineau. His performance helped finish off a doubleheader sweep at home. He struck out seven and walked three in the outing.
After throwing 99 pitches, he came back three days later and locked down a two-inning save against North Dakota State College of Science. Following his former North Star teammate Dane Hagler’s five-inning start, Simon allowed just one hit and struck out two as he closed out an 8-5 win. The Royals won the nightcap against NDSCS on April 24, and took three out of four in the season series.
Two days later, Simon allowed one run in one inning of relief against Dakota County Technical College to finish the week. And although it didn’t count towards this honor, he pitched again three days later against Bottineau and threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings to lead a 16-0 win.
This is the second weekly honor LRSC has received this year. On March 28, Jamison Nelson was named the Mon-Dak Player of the Week.
The Royals (14-31, 11-13) will travel to Miles City, Montana, on Saturday to face Miles Community College (35-15, 18-6) in the first round of the playoffs.
