Devils Lake is represented by a coach and three players on this year’s North Dakota Lions All-Star teams. The rosters were announced Thursday evening.

Dustin Brodina, following a runner-up finish at the Class A state tournament, will co-coach the A/B boys’ team for the second straight year — in lieu of Kindred coach Brad Woehl, whose squad avenged last season’s loss to Devils Lake in the title game. Brodina is set to coach alongside Bishop Ryan’s Broderick Bosch, whose team won the Class B state title.

Devils Lake seniors Parker Brodina and Joel Nelson made the A/B boys’ roster. Both were all-state tournament and all-region selections, and Brodina was the Class A Senior Athlete of the Year. Brodina was also an All-State First Team selection with his 18 points per game.

They’ll join forces with two of their rivals from Kindred: Karson Ouse and Presley Peraza.

Elijah Feather Jr., a Warwick senior and Lake Region State College commit, is listed as one of three alternates on the team.

On the girls’ side, Devils Lake senior Torri Fee made the A/B roster. She had eight points and 3.6 rebounds per game during the regular season and was an all-region selection.

Fee will play with a rival from Carrington, Edyn Hoornaert.

The A/B girls’ team is coached by Valley City’s Jimmy Howard and Kenmare/Bowbells’ Mike Zimmer (in lieu of Benson County champion head coach Bryan Kenner).

Last year, the A/B boys’ team included Devils Lake’s Wylee Delorme, Four Winds/Minnewaukan’s Deng Deng and North Star’s Dane Hagler — all three of whom were Mr. Basketball candidates, with Deng winning the award. Coached by D. Brodina and Westhope/Newburg’s Anthony Lee, the A/B boys won both All-Star games over the AA team.

The A/B girls last year, coached by Devils Lake’s Justin Klein and May-Port-C-G’s Keenan Konschak, lost both of their games to the AA team. The squad didn’t include any Devils Lake players.

The games will once again be held in Bismarck and Fargo this year, on July 14 and 15, respectively.
