High school baseball

Kidder County 7, New Rockford-Sheyenne 6: The Black Sox drew eight walks compared to only five hits. They had a 6-5 lead going to the seventh but surrendered two in the top half of the inning. They were hurt by five errors, making only three of the seven runs earned.

Hillsboro/Central Valley 2, Nelson County/Midkota 4: Preston Lee had his best outing of the season, throwing a complete game with eight strikeouts, no walks and two runs allowed. Both runs came in the first inning. He also hit a game-tying single in the bottom of the first. The Chargers improve to 5-3.

Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich 0, Park River Area 3: The Cardinals were shut down by Everett Fedje, who struck out 12 and walked nobody in a three-hit shutout. It was LA/E/M (8-4)’s second loss to the first-place Aggies (10-3) this season.

High school softball

Devils Lake 14, Grand Forks Central 3: Calin Boline allowed just one earned run in a complete game. She also collected two extra-base hits and four RBIs. Tylie Brodina recorded three hits and three RBIs, and Ava Beck had three hits and a walk.

Nelson County/Midkota 10, Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich 10: Jalynn Swanson went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for the Cardinals. The Chargers put up a five-run third inning to go ahead 8-2, but the Cardinals scored seven over the next two innings, and each team scored a run in the sixth to stay tied.

Numerous Devils Lake athletes qualified for state in the Bottineau Quad Meet:

4×100 relay: Reggie Cavanaugh, Leo Franco, Delorme, Hofstad

400-meter dash: Adam Sobolik

Triple jump: April Miller

Long jump, triple jump: Sara Kraft

CNDC Outdoor

New Rockford-Sheyenne’s Emmie Belquist qualified for state in long jump. Deng Deng won the 100-meter dash and high jump.
