Paul Richard Kuchar (“Zipper”), 61, of Edmore, ND, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, leaving behind a lifetime of hard work, laughter, and more good deeds than can be counted.
Paul was born on July 13, 1964, in Langdon , ND. He spent his life working hard and being there for the people around him. A graduate of Edmore High School, Paul lived and worked in Edmore his entire life. He began his career at Nelson ‘s Body Shop , then worked at the Edmore Elevator (CHS), and was employed at North Prairie Ag (Farmers Union) at the time of his passing.
One of Paul’s favorite spots was the Beer:30 Bar uptown, where he spent many evenings enjoying time with friends in his comfort zone. If you entered the bar as a stranger, you likely left as a friend-because you left knowing Paul.
Though Paul never married, he had a large and loving family. He is survived by his brother, Dale (Mary) of Osnabrock, ND; sisters Kaye Peterson (Mike) of Harwood, ND; Lori Frith (Kevin) of Devils Lake, ND; Lynn Henke of Mandan, ND; Jill Schlosser (Scott) of Bismarck, ND; and Karen Wolf (Jimmy) of Devils Lake. He is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews. Paul also leaves his fiancée, June Berger of Park River, ND. Paul and June shared many wonderful years together and spent more time on the phone than many married couples.
He was preceded in death by his parents Laddie and Jessie Kuchar.
Paul embraced new things even later in life – he got his first cell phone at age 59 (thanks to brother Dale) and quickly learned to navigate technology. He even became an Amazon shopper – much to everyone’s surprise.
Sundays were Paul’s time to relax, usually spent watching NASCAR unless he was called away for an urgent task, often with his good friend Lloyd Sanderson. He also took care of the farmyard for his godparents, Jim and Carol Novacek. His collection of lawn mowers was legendary.
Paul will be remembered for his big heart and the way he always showed up for others.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake, ND. Following the service, there will be a gathering of friends and family at Beer:30 in Edmore. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Go rest high on that mountain, son. Your work on earth is done.
