Pauline Ann (Miller) Svercl, 87, of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of Brocket, ND, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at WFL- Kosobud Cemetery rural Lankin, ND. A luncheon will follow at noon at Fordville Lutheran Church, 220 Main St., Fordville, ND.
Polly was born Dec. 3, 1937 to Thomas and Pauline Miller of Brocket, ND. In 1954 she married the love of her life Gordon Svercl, and they enjoyed 60-years together, until Gordon passed in 2015. The majority of those 60-years were spent farming near Brocket, and in 2013 the farm was sold. Polly and Gordon moved to Devils Lake, ND.
Polly loved her Czech heritage, polka music, MollyB and baking, especially kolache’ and rholiky. She was the keeper of family history with a sharp mind for names and dates.
In May 2023 Polly was diagnosed with cancer in the lining of her lungs. She handled this diagnosis with boundless determination and grace.
Polly was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, and other family.
She is survived by her sister, Diane Maixner of Lakota, ND, sister-in-law Delores Ryba of Devils Lake, ND, brother-in-law Milton “Sam” Patrick of San Jose, CA and Aunt Margaret Hanesalo of Devils Lake, ND, as well as many nieces and nephews.
