Melody Rose Anderson Christianson, 70, of Devils Lake ND, flew with the angels on April 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at her bedside at Altru Grand Forks. Melody was born Jan. 24, 1954, in Devils Lake ND to Delores (Hedine) & John Anderson. Due to Melody’s wishes, there will only be a private viewing service for immediate family. Arrangements are with the Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock, ND.
Melody grew up in the St. Michael area with 7 sisters and 3 brothers. Melody received her GED.
Melody was very kind hearted; she would give you the shirt off her back. Melody worked at various places such as DTI, Sioux Manufacturing, Spirit Lake Casino & Resort, after 16 years she retired from Four Winds School as the head cook due to her health conditions, but she was still the head cook of the family. Melody cooked up right until she went to the hospital for her special great nephew Koa’s 1st birthday.
Melody was united in marriage to John “JC” Christianson in October of 1988 in Devils Lake. They welcomed four beautiful children to the family, Jesse, Katelynn, Kendal, and Abreanna.
Melody’s hobbies included: spending time with her family, playing Yahtzee with Edith, calling her sisters Wiggs & Rena and giving them heck, loved watching and encouraging her grandchildren to show off. Nothing in this world was more important than her grandchildren. Melody’s specialty was cooking, and always cooked big meals. You could often find Melody sitting at the table with her weekly magazines.

Melody is survived by her children: Jesse (Laura), Katelynn, Kendal (Anna) Abreanna (Devin) and Jaidelynn. Grandchildren: Erionna, Alura, Keaston, Patrice, Pyper, Harper, Lahoma, Nenah, Acelynn, Sherry, Nevay, Aria, and Lincoln. Sisters: Loreena (Bobby), Loreen “Wiggs”, Lila Anderson, and Doll Smith. Godchildren: Christoper “CJ” Cavanaugh, Special nieces: Tracy (Scott) Charboneau, Megan (Rodney) Charboneau, Layla Aguilar, Erika (Terrell) Thomas, Bailee Longie, Reaba (Kurtis) Hegg-Mack, Rainie Anderson, Jennifer Strouse, Kansas (Lance) Cavanaugh, Rylie Cavanaugh, Madison Yankton, Nicole (Domingo) Eagle. Special nephews: Trent Anderson, Darren Strouse, Isaiah (Paige) Strouse and Aaron Cavanaugh.
