Melbourne “Mel” A. Brown, 79 of Colorado passed away on Jan. 19, 2026, at the Aurora Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado.

Melbourne Arthur, son of Andrew and Charlotte Brown was born on Dec. 3, 1946, in Plant City, Florida. He attended school in Lithia, Florida, graduating from Pinecrest High School.

Mel married his precious JoAnn Nahinurk on Nov. 14, 1970, in Devils Lake. They made their home in Colorado where they lived, worked and raised their family. Mel worked as a long haul truck driver for many years.

When not on the road, Mel enjoyed reading, watching sports, travel and his most treasured times were when he was with his family.

Mel is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughters Jodi (Matt) Maddock and Amber (Keith) Hoovestol; brother Wayne Brown and several nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ouida McIntosh, Opal Albritton, and Jewel Eger and brothers Eldon Brown, Russell Brown, and Lamar Brown.

Funeral Services for Mel will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
