Dear Editor,
Is anyone suffering “buyer’s remorse” after all the hearing and seeing of what President Trump has said and done? If I were to buy a particular dog, I anticipate I would experience buyer’s remorse if it bit my mailman, my neighbor and me, no matter how much my friends are impressed by the sleekness, mastery and tenacity of the breed, no matter how much they pat me on that back because of my “great buy.” I surely hope I would have buyer’s remorse. I’d wonder about my sanity if I didn’t.
Quote from Vets for Responsible Leadership: “Nothing is sacred to Trump. Not Arlington; not the medal of honor; not tortured POWs; not Gold Star families. If you value the service at all, you cannot honorably support this guy.”
Can you?
And now, with millions of Federal Workers who are not sure what to do or what is coming, Trump was asked at a signing of Executive Orders (2/25/25), “Can you clarify, once and for all, what your expectations are with this email to federal employees? Do you see it as voluntary, like OPM (Office of Personnel Management) has said, or mandatory (as the email, itself, states)?”
To which our recently repurchased canine (it’s a metaphor) answered with an authority and clarity, as he might say, unlike any other president in the history of the nation: “Well, it’s somewhat voluntary. But it’s also, if you don’t answer, I guess you get fired.”
Ultimately, his answer concluded, “Everybody answers to me in my administration. The buck stops here.” In other words, HE is the one who put out that email to federal workers, HE is the one who is slashing the federal workforce, and HE is the one who changes his mind when he comes face-to-face with his own incompetence in administering the Elon Musk chainsaw to the problem of over-spending, not having protected and improved the house, but having bitten the mailman, the neighbor, and us.
