He was also named the tournament’s Top Overall Gun, and earned additional recognition as a member of the 2025 North Dakota All-State Team.
In the Junior Varsity Division, Jyles Shomento earned 2nd place in the JV Male 2A Division with a 93/100, and Karley Ness brought home 2nd place in the JV Female 2A Division with a strong 80/100.
Owen Becker celebrated a personal milestone, shooting his first-ever 25 straight, a key achievement for any trapshooter.
The DLHS Junior Varsity team also brought home 2nd place overall, showcasing both skill and consistency across the board.
This year, 20 student-athletes from Devils Lake High School competed at the state tournament. In addition to trapshooting, three team members also represented DLHS in the North Dakota High School Skeet Tournament, showing their flexibility across multiple clay target disciplines. The team is coached by Head Coach Trisha Berg and Assistant Coaches Norman Howard and Doug Darling.
“The kids have really put in the time this season, and they brought their best to the tournament, “said Head Coach Trisha Berg. “We’re proud of their sportsmanship, positive attitude, and the way they represented Devils Lake High School.”
