Devils Lake Police Department reports the following:

2/17/26: At about 3:53 p.m., police were dispatched to Walmart on Highway 2 for a report of theft involving one of their employees over a span of several months. Video footage and transaction reports were provided, alleging that 41-year-old male suspect Yurii Senyk took approximately $820 from the business’s liquor store from Jan. 8 to Feb. 17. There was video surveillance of approximately 14 separate incidents in which the suspect was handed cash by customers in the amounts of $20, $50, and $100 bills, and he allegedly placed the cash in his vest pocket instead of the cash register. He was charged with misapplication of entrusted property, a class A misdemeanor, and transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.

2/18/26: At about 3:52 p.m., police were dispatched to the Newport Apartments on Fourth Ave. NE for a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon the officers’ arrival, they could hear a female screaming from the third floor of the building. A victim answered the door and alleged that he was assaulted by his girlfriend, 32-year-old suspect Taniesha Rainbow, who he said had showed up at the location in an intoxicated state and refused to leave. Officers observed that the victim had scratches on his left arm and cheek that were still bleeding when they arrived. The victim said that the suspect had also broken a window in the apartment and directed officers to the bedroom; officers noticed a large broken mirror in the hallway leading to the bedroom. Rainbow was in the closet and refused officers’ commands to exit the closet or stand on her feet. As attempts were made to handcuff and restrain Rainbow to place her under arrest for disorderly conduct, officers reported that she actively fought and resisted arrest. She then allegedly kicked an officer in the face, causing a slight nosebleed. Eventually, she was handcuffed and removed from the apartment. Rainbow was arrested and charged with assault on a peace officer, a class C felony, preventing arrest, a class C felony, simple assault domestic, a class B misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. After she was medically cleared, she was transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.

2/20/26: At approximately 6:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel on Highway 2, responding to a report of a male suspect allegedly hitting a female. Arriving at the scene, officers were met by two female victims, one of whom stated that she had awakened about a half-hour earlier, whereupon she and the other female went down to get some juice, and the male suspect followed them to a room in the motel. As he was standing by the door, he allegedly pushed one of the women into the door, causing the back of her head to hit the door. The suspect said he was looking for his cellphone and wouldn’t leave the women alone. Prior to this, the suspect had been in the motel with the women but was forced to leave after causing a disturbance and thought he had left his phone behind. A short time later, there were reports that the suspect in question had been allegedly assaulted at the Holiday Inn Express and was again forced to leave after causing another disturbance. The suspect in question, a 59-year-old male, was later picked up at Bjornson’s Convenience Store and Gas Station, where he was placed under arrest, charged with disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor and transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.

2/20/26: At approximately 7:22 p.m., an officer on patrol observed that a 36-year-old male suspect had apparently crashed a Pontiac Vibe into a snowbank just south of the underpass on 5th Ave. SE. The officer saw that the suspect got out of the SUV from the driver’s seat, and added that he was acting strangely, and seemed to be ignoring the officer’s presence, while grabbing a shovel from the back of the vehicle to begin shoveling snow away from it. When the suspect conversed with the officer, he spoke in short sentences and seemed to stutter or slur a few words. The officer could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage on the suspect. When asked, the suspect admitted that he had been drinking. Testing was conducted to determine intoxication and showed impairment. His Breathalyzer sample was 0.26. He was also found to have a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, a class A misdemeanor, and Driving Under Suspension, a class B misdemeanor, and transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.

2/20/26: Police responded to reports of a physical altercation involving a 30-year-old male suspect at Applebee’s Grill and Bar on Highway 2; officers didn’t feel that an arrest was necessary at the time and brought the suspect and another individual to Shamrock Lane to pick up property while officers were present. The suspect attempted to push past the officers on the scene to physically fight with two individuals inside the residence, but officers were able to deescalate and defuse the situation, transporting the suspect to a location on 14th St. NW. Shortly after, calls for service came reporting that the suspect was attempting to fight individuals outside that location and he was later found walking on College Dr., yelling and screaming at cars passing by. Officers determined that, if left alone any longer, the suspect’s actions would continue to annoy, alarm or harass citizens, so he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor and transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.

2/21/26: At approximately 6:20 p.m., police were dispatched to the Great Northern for a person removal due to an argument, and then it was later reported that the person had left on their own. Upon officers’ arrival, they saw a young adult male wearing a red coat and leaving the residence. The male suspect gave his name and confirmed he was 20 years old. He was allowed to leave, but a few minutes later, they saw the young man return, walking past the front door and he was detained and told to get into the squad car to receive a citation for minor consumption. Despite being told multiple times that he was not free to leave, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, whereupon he slipped on some ice. As he attempted to get up, officers tackled him and placed under arrest for fleeing on foot, a class B misdemeanor, and transported to the Lake Region Correctional Center.
