The 11th hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month each year people around the nation pause to remember and honor all those who served or are currently serving in the various branches of the US military.
Devils Lake is planning theirs for the Memorial Building at 524 4th Ave. NE and it will feature speaches by local dignitaries, music from the Devils Lake Community Elks Band and much, much more.
Something new this year
Message from the Quartermaster of the VFW Post 756, Michael Grafsgaard, “The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 756 is partnering with Jayne and Bob Mylnar from Gobbler Concessions to provide Hot Turkey Crossants (turkey breast, shredded and marinated on a buttered croissant) and shredded beef sandwiches, chips and desert for Veterans Day at the VFW club. The meal will start at noon (12 p.m.) on Veterans Day, after the Veterans Day program.
There will be a Free Will Offering for the sandwiches, with ALL PROCEEDS going to support the ND Honor Flight.
The VFW club will also be serving free chili that day.”
“We hope there is a big turn out to help support the ND Honor Flight!!” Grafsgaard added.
