What’s happening here?

Devils Lake is seeing some changes this fall.

Pizza Hut

Perhaps you have noticed, or perhaps not. First, a reader sent an e-mail one day last week letting me know that the Pizza Hut was being torn down. So I hopped in my trusty “Copper” colored Jeep and got some pictures of it as they were finishing the process. It was very dusty and nearly completely gone but you can see where it used to be and now, nothing remains of it at all.

Great American Inn

Then, I was told that the Great American Inn, also formerly known as The Artclare, was being demolished. Quite a while ago they started in the back of the building, out of sight of passersby driving on U.S. Highway 2, but last week, they, also finished the project except for a few piles of debris here and there. Now, if you drive by, it has all been cleared away and only the sign for the Great American Inn is standing alone in its place.

St. Joseph Catholic Church

The east end of main street, 4th Street NE, has been seeing some changes as St. Joseph Catholic Church is having its tall steeples re-shingled. Not a job for just anyone! The dizzying heights, coupled with fall ND winds and falling temperatures must make this a real challenge.

Dollar General

Progress is being made on the Dollar General Store located near Minnie H Kindergarten Center. That should be opening in the not-so-distant future.

If you see something happening like this; a building being torn down or a new business opening up – let us know about it – send a brief message to loleson@cmpapers.com and we will try to find out “What’s happening here?”
