Ramsey County has a long and proud history of serving our nation’s veterans, a legacy that continues to this day as we work with our federal, state and local partners to ensure that the former service members in our communities have access to the rsources they need to thrive.

This coming Veterans Day, Ramsey County invites government offices, businesses and members of the community to join Operation Green Light and show support for veterans by lighting your building or home green from Nov. 4 to Nov. 11. By shining a greenlight, we will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.

The Ramsey County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) is responsible for processing and managing almost $5 million in compensation and pension benefits for Ramsey County veterans each year. The CVSO assists veterans in obtaining federal and state benefits, handles inquiries and applications for benefits.

Veterans in the county have access to the Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient clinic (CBOC) at the Devils Lake Hospital bringing our county veterans over $4 million in medical services each year. The excellent staff provides primary care, mental health care, laboratory and pathology services, and more.

Ramsey County is home to the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) at the Red River Valley Community Action Agency. The SSVF helps veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, providing assistance with housing, rent, utilities and other expenses.
