The F5 Project made a food donation to the Hope Center on Thursday, Oct. 5. The F5 Project donated nonperishable foods in recognition of National Recovery Month which is recognized in the month of September. The F5 Project is an organization with offices statewide that provides services and resources to individuals trying to get back on their feet due to incarceration, mental health, and addiction. The F5 Project opened its Devils Lake office in February.
“Most of our demographic are people in recovery, wanting to be in recovery. So F5 as a group decided to do food donations,” said Mechelle Solberg, care coordinator for F5 Project. “All of the offices around the state put out boxes for food donations… we had a large donation from a community member that was moving that didn’t want to put her nonperishables in storage, so she donated it all to us, and we brought it here for the Hope Center to help their people.”
Regional Director Matt Quinn said they also donated to the Hope Center as it is “a big asset to the community and they help out a lot of individuals.”
“We found it important to participate in the community. How we do that is through efforts such as this,” Quinn said. “What we did is orchestrated a food drive in each city and then we did it in our own way, and the donations that we received from members of the public were gracious enough to think of us. We were bringing it to places that we partnered with.”
