There will be a very special event held in Devils Lake in the Memorial Building on Saturday, April 27 to benefit DeAnn Brown for help with medical expenses and travel.
DeAnn was diagnosed with Hepatobiliary Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer in the liver) in January of 2024. Since then she has been unable to work and is traveling back and forth to Fargo for her Chemotherapy treatments and medical appointments.
DeAnn is married to Jared Brown and they have two young daughters; Emma is 3 and Ellen is 7. DeAnn is the daughter-in-law of Verna and Ed Brown.
Carla Bjornson is organizing the benefit and she has lined up the Lake Region Corn Holers club for two tournaments; one starting at 2 p.m. and the other starting at 5 p.m. with a $20 buy-in and “blind draw” for teams. Half of the proceeds from these tournaments will go to DeAnn.
Pop’s Bar will be providing refreshments starting at 2 p.m. and the actual benefit begins at 4 p.m.
There will be a Silent Auction, a Live Auction conducted by Westad auction & appraisal company and a bake sale sponsored by St. Olaf Lutheran Church’s WELCA – to contribute items for any of these contact Carla Bjornson at 701-351-3589.
At 5 p.m. there will be a free will offering Taco Feed. Entertainment and dance music will be provided by live D.J., Urban Nights, from Oberon.
