Devils Lake just got a movie theater and soon the city will have an entertainment center. Dockside Entertainment will be the home for games, sports, and other fun activities that everyone can enjoy. The proposed completion date is February 2024.
“It is coming along great, most of the walls and sections are framed including the simulator bays, community room, office and concession area, and the separation between the pickleball courts and indoor playground,” said Dockside Entertainment and community engagement manager, Christy Remmick. “The next phase will be electrical, drywall, and paint.”
The center will offer activities that include five simulator bays that are multi-sport and games, Remmick said. There will also be six bowling lanes, an indoor playground, three pickleball courts (the courts will also be used for other sports), a walking track, an arcade area, a lounge area for hosting leagues, tournaments, and special events for the community. Initial plans had a small movie theater but that was nixed. Remmick said the plan is instead to “add an additional multi-sport court area to allow for more pickleball, setting up inflatables, playing youth games, and any other ideas we come up with.”
Remmick said she is most looking forward that the center will be a place for everyone. “How cool is it to be able to see kids playing at the indoor playground while seniors are walking along the walking track and hopefully having everyone interact and get to know each other, or families playing bowling with each other side by side,” she said. “We have really tried to take the community’s needs into consideration and utilize the space as best as possible… We just hope the community sees this as a project for them and as a step in a forward direction for Devils Lake and everyone decides to enjoy this space.”
