Ramsey County 4-H held their achievement days on multiple days in June and July.
Horse Show
The horse show was on June 24 followed by the Lake Region Livestock Expo on June 29 and the static event on July 11-12. Each day was very successful in its own respect. The riders toughed out the weather on June 24. As they rode their horses, it was windy and rainy but smiles dominated. Former Ramsey County 4-H member Marit Wang was the judge for the day.
Livestock Expo
The Lake Region Livestock Expo on June 29 was where all large and small livestock, pets and dogs were shown. This year was a first as a llama was shown as a class that was included in the round robin. Small animals were judged by Jana Costa from Bottineau and the large animal show was judged by Lisa Pederson, Extension Livestock Specialist. The day turned out to be a great learning experience for all in attendance.
Both the horse and livestock events were held at the Peterson Arena with Ramsey County Fair Board members taking a huge role in the success of these events.
Static Event
The summer achievement day series was wrapped up on July 11-12 at the Memorial Building with the static event. Ramsey County 4-H members did an interview with a specific judge for each of their projects. Static judges included Vonnie Quam, Janet Godman, Mackenzie Schemionek, Carly Braathen, Randy Olson, Elle Black, Tammy Meyer, Teresa Tande Darling, Allison Driessen and Kristi Buchmeier.
They each had the grueling task after visiting with each 4-H member to determine grand and reserve champions in each category.
Speech Spectacular displayed an up and coming dynamic speaker, Noah Deckert, who presented “Too Many Daves” by Dr.Seuss.
Project Expo was held on Wednesday, July 12. This was an opportunity for 4-H members to set up a display of one of their projects and explain it to a judge. Toni Jacobson was the judge. Displays ranged from hiking skills and weight lifting to making a snack.
Each year Ramsey County 4-H members amaze the public with their talents and displays. Congratulations to each 4-H’er as they continue learning life skills.
