Tonight is opening night for the Fort Totten Little Theater’s production of “Footloose.”

“Footloose, the Musical” is the story of a teenage boy – Ren – from Chicago who moves to a small town with his mother. Upon arriving he finds himself at odds with most of the town, including the Rev. Moore. With the help of Ariel (who is the Rev’s daughter) and a country hick who becomes his best friend, Willard, Ren overcomes obstacles holding him and his friends back.

Director Phillip Maritato says this is the first musical he has directed and it’s going to be a great show. He was impressed with the cast as it came together, “Except for a couple of them, they all have experience,” he said.

Most are from Devils Lake and the surrounding area, but a few come from other states, including a couple from Little Rock, Ark. by way of NYC, NY.

If you’ve attended one of the FTLT productions in the last few years, you will recognize several of your favorite actors.
