A small group of ND School for the Deaf middle school students and staff have successfully completed Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED training. This course was provided through blended learning in which the students completed an online course provided by the American Red Cross followed by skills training and testing with NDSD school Nurse, Tracy Vilandre.
Vilandre stated, “The students did a phenomenal job. They were engaged, attentive and responsive to the training. One never knows when an emergency will strike, and I feel confident that these students have the skills to provide care or assist as needed in an emergent situation. If you see them, please congratulate them on taking the steps needed to help save a life!”
Attached is a picture of the group with their 2-year certification. More action pictures are available upon request.
Interesting back story: The students were inspired to learn CPR after discussion in my Current Events class about NFL player, Damar Hamlin, who collapsed on the field during a football game this past season. As their teacher for this specific class, I became certified right along with them. – Linda K. Koth
