Devils Lake boys win at Fargo North 76-74, improve to 10-6

The Devils Lake boys basketball team picked up a road win Friday at Fargo North, 76-74. The Firebirds move to 10-6 overall and have a 12-3 record in the Eastern Dakota Conference to stay in second place.

Devils Lake was outscored 45-34 in the second half, but was able to hold on thanks to a 42-29 halftime advantage.

Zach Dahlen led the Firebirds with 25 points and fellow junior Jake Mertens was right there with 24. Mertens also added five rebounds and five assists.

Josh Frelich added nine points and Ben Shepherd scored five points while pulling down eight rebounds. Hunter Fee added seven rebounds.

Up next for the Firebirds is a trip to third place Fargo Davies (11-4,10-4) on Tuesday. DL beat Davies 79-73 in January.
